Over the last century our planet has permanently lost nearly 500 animal species. Human impact through destruction of habitat, poaching and pollution has accelerated the decline. Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam invited Smörgåsbord to get involved in an exhibition that would draw attention to this plight.
Our illustration
Wieden + Kennedy asked us to focus on the Caribbean Monk Seal. Caribbean Monk Seals became easy targets for hunters while resting, birthing or nursing their pups on the beach. We went for an explicit approach by depicting a target across our graphic illustration of the seal which was sadly declared extinct in 2008.
